Local trees & conditions
Storms have tracked right through Meridianville. On December 16, 2019, the National Weather Service confirmed an EF-0 tornado (about 80–85 mph) that skipped through the Spencer Lake and Spencer Estates subdivision, downing trees and uprooting a large magnolia. On May 26, 2011, another EF-0 touched down near Meridianville and snapped and uprooted numerous large trees along Walker Lane near Moores Mill Road. Like the rest of the Tennessee Valley, the soils here are mostly red clay, which Alabama Extension notes holds water after long rains.
