Local trees & conditions
On March 31, 2016, the National Weather Service tracked an EF-2 tornado (115 mph) from northeast of Hartselle to 4 miles northeast of Priceville. Just west of I-65 on Bethel Circle, the survey found hardwood trees about 2 feet across snapped, sheared and twisted off 10–15 feet above their bases. Priceville soils are Tennessee Valley red clay, which Alabama Extension says holds water after long rains.
